Term 3 has seen three sports being delivered at St Joseph’s either after school or at lunchtime.
On Monday 5/6s enjoy playing Badminton with Margaret Lee coaching them through the finer points of the sport. On Tuesday the 3/4s also do Badminton. Margaret is a coach with the South East Badminton Association (SEBA). If you want to have some extra coaching SEBA is located at Springers Leisure Center, Keysborough.
On Wednesdays, twenty Year 5 students are enjoying playing Hot Shots tennis in the school hall at lunchtime. Stephen Sruk and his assistant Hendryk , from the Springvale North Tennis and Social Club are our coaches. The Hot Shots program has the philosophy of “learning through play”, which means that playing the game of tennis or a modified version of it, is the central feature of all sessions. All the students are enjoying the program. Already some of our students are playing tennis at the local club with Stephen.
On Thursday afternoon the Year 2s are involved in a ball skills program that leads into Basketball. Two coaches from the Melbourne Institute of Sport are helping our students to learn the skills involved in the sport.
