What a fantastic day Thursday 31 August was for the annual Rugby League Gala day at Westall Primary School.
Members of Melbourne Storm provided a training session to all the teams who competed on the day before the competition began.
St Joseph’s entered two tackle teams (boys) and three tag teams (girls). Overall 62 students represented our school on the day.
After the preliminary rounds the two boys teams finished on top of the ladder and therefore played off in the Grand final. After two hard fought games the both teams were runners up.
The girls A tag team also finished on top of their pool. The girls B team finished second in their pool which meant these two teams had to play against each other for the right to play in the Grand Final. After a very even game the A team were victorious. Then in the Grand Final, after another evenly played game the girl’s team were runners up.
I was very proud of the way all our students played and conducted themselves. They showed great sportsmanship and were a credit to the school.
Thank you to Mrs Mahney, Mrs Medina, Mrs Ireno, Mrs Kapsalis and Miss Carlson for coaching and guiding the teams on the day.
